Weston Road High School has apologised to the son of a Romany gypsy after a teacher told a scruffy pupil he "looked like a pikey".
The teacher was bang out of order for the remark. As far as I can see she is in a position of authority, she should be leading by example. She wouldn't make a remark about someone's ethnicity or gender, so why should it be acceptable in this case. If there is an issue with the way the lad is turned out then it should be discussed in the appropriate forum, not in front of his peers.See the full content of this document
