Mayor Mystery: Democracy does have its limitations. On the two occasions that I have had the opportunity to vote for an elected mayor, I had no idea which, if any, had the ability to run an organisation like Stoke-on-Trent City Council. At the end of the first four-year term, the electorate decided they wanted a change, so was this a waste of four years? Is the present incumbent any better? And what about the next one? He could be a disaster and we would be stuck with him for another four years.
Every year we can elect a third of the councillors. These people are in the best position to choose a suitable leader.See the full content of this document
