DESIGN company Haughton says more collaboration between education and industry is needed to create the extra skilled engineers the UK economy is "crying out for". David Mills, pictured, managing director of Staffordbased Haughton Design, says his approaches to universities have often been dismissed. Mr Mills, who started his career aged 16 as a technical apprentice with Union Locks, has 29 years' experience in the engineering sector. Haughton specialises in design development for manufacturers in a range of sectors, and says that investing in design can help cut manufacturing costs by up to 90 per cent.See the full content of this document
