PORT Vale manager Micky Adams admits he is disappointed keeper Stuart Tomlinson left the club to boost his chances of securing a new deal.

Adams invited the former Crewe keeper to train with the club in mid-July, as he targeted extra cover for first-choice keeper Joe Anyon, who has yet to fully recover from the broken leg he suffered at Chesterfield in March. Adams was keen to explore the possibility of recruiting Tomlinson to compete with teenage duo Chris Martin and Daniel LloydWeston.
