Traders Praised for Helping Light Up Their Town for Christmas

TRADERS have been praised for helping launch a town's Christmas festivities after a cash-strapped council pulled the plug on its lights and decorations.

Members of the Tunstall Chamber of Trade took over the annual Christmas lights switch-on after Stoke-on-Trent City Council revealed it would not fund decorations outside the city centre. Hundreds attended the event on Friday and praised businesses for rescuing the event.
