TAXPAYERS are facing a Pounds 2 million bill to cover a shortfall in pensions for eight managers from a private contractor.

Members of Stoke-on-Trent City Council have been told the authority needs to make almost Pounds 17 million of savings this year to balance its budget. But it has now emerged that Pounds 2 million of that money is needed to top up public sector pensions given to private contractor Serco's management team, led by young people's services director Ged Rowney.
