Summary
Land Girls BBC1, 5.15pm MARKING the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of World War Two, this new series follows the lives and loves of four young women in the Women's Land Army (WLA). Joyce wants to "do her bit", Nancy is in the WLA under sufferance, while Annie joined so her younger sister Bea could escape an abusive father. In the opener, Joyce and Nancy face a terrifying ordeal on their way to the farm. Saved by Sergeant Tucker, the girls are taken to the Manor House and meet Lord and Lady Hoxley. Nancy and Lawrence Hoxley feel an instant attraction. Bea is flirting with everyone. Annie wants her to tone down her behaviour, but Bea takes up a new challenge when she tries to stop the segregation of black troops by the U.S. Army.
