This year's Stoke-on-Trent budget included plans to increase charges at councilowned car parks to generate an extra Pounds 400,000 a year. It emerged last month that the money was never collected because officers had forgotten to implement the changes.
In the same budget, finance officers predicted that the council would generate Pounds 200,000 in additional income by seizing cash and property from offenders convicted following Trading Standards investigations. The forecast income from proceeds of crime seizures this year is actually closer to Pounds 20,000.See the full content of this document
