The Gutenberg printing press revolutionised book production and helped to foster the development of arts, sciences and religion.
It is believed to have been completed by 1440. Previously, books had to be painstakingly copied by hand. With its wooden and later metal movable type printing it brought down the price of printed materials, paving the way for mass book ownership.See the full content of this document
