Summary


Following conversations I have had with residents and letters which have appeared in The Sentinel, it's quite clear that people in the Westlands have been concerned by the destruction of the mature trees in what had previously been a tree-lined avenue at the end of Gallowstree Lane, and wrongly assumed that they were diseased. They weren't; they were perfectly healthy. But plans for the roundabout reconstruction have taken precedence over conservation and preservation, and they were bulldozed through with remarkable speed, and the trees destroyed before local residents had the opportunity to question the reason.

We have neither been considered, informed, nor consulted in the matter, but what is the real reason for this pounds3 million, year- long project? It is certainly not just to tart up a roundabout.
