TOWN councils could soon be in charge of everything from Christmas lights to public toilets under plans to hand power directly to local communities.
Cheshire East Council has proposed transferring Pounds 6 million worth of assets to towns and parishes from April next year. The big ticket items are set to include civic buildings, community halls, indoor markets, toilets and allotments, although they would either be bought for a nominal fee or leased.See the full content of this document
