The recently-formed Stoke City Old Boys' Association hosted its first gala evening at the Britannia Stadium in front of around 250 fans. Martin Spinks was among those at a unique gathering to acclaim the club's stars of yesteryear THEY rolled into the Waddington Suite like sparkling entries at a vintage car rally.

There were a couple of flash motors called Hudson and Greenhoff, foreign imports Conroy and Clarke, reliable runarounds like Skeels and Scott, locally-manufactured durability in the shape of Marsh and Allen, not to mention those Sherman tanks Smith and Berry.
