MADAM, - I wonder if any of your readers would be interested in these photographs showing the VE Day parade in Hulme? The first photograph shows the Candlesticks public house and the VE Day parade led by Mrs Betty Beresford. She is followed by Frank Edwards, my late uncle, Kingsley Weston, Carrie Shirley, Lilian and Ina Birch, Gloria Sharkey and Sheila Beresford.
On the second photograph the parade is moving through the village and I can be seen in the middle carrying a tray. I was dressed as Nippy, a waitress from the Lions Cafe in London, and originally came from Malt House Mill.See the full content of this document
