Summary
Sir, - Last week my family and I went to Saundersfoot, South Wales. Having arrived four-and-a- half hours late due to the weather conditions, we flagged down a taxi and went to our accommodation.
While having a friendly chat with the driver he asked us where we were from. Proudly we announced that we were from Stoke-on-Trent. In reply, he said: "Oh, isn't that called Smoke-on-Trent now?" The sheer embarrassment of it left us to just say... "yes, unfortunately". Congratulations once again to the council.
