BURSLEM'S Steve Allen is a newcomer to golf and admits he is "nervous and excited" about playing in the Sentinel Shield final. Allen, from Sneyd Green, meets Tim Ashburner, of Trentham Park, at Trentham on Sunday (10.10am) having entered the tournament for the first time.

"This is my first outside competition and I entered to play other courses," said the 38-yearold printer. But I was lucky to be was drawn at home in every round and Burslem is not the easiest of courses.
