HOMEOWNER Kevan Shaw spent seven years fighting with Stoke-on- Trent City Council before finally accepting an offer for his Middleport home.

The 65-year-old stuck it out in the Slater Street area of Middleport while dozens of residents moved out as he argued over the value of his Dimsdale Street home. He believes the major issue for many residents is who determines the market value of the houses. Mr Shaw, who has moved to Melstone Avenue, in Tunstall, said: "Originally, our own valuer valued our house at Pounds 93,000. "But then the city council did its own valuation, and said it was only worth Pounds 75,000.
