Ledgar Nips in to Snatch Trophy From Team-Mate

TRENTHAM Park players took first and second place in the Geoff Marks Trophy at Stone. The trophy, presented by the former England and Walker Cup captain, is contested by players in Staffordshire on a nine-hole course. It was won by Richard Ledgar, who finished on 42 points, three clear of runner-up and club colleague Phil Mountford. WESTWOOD have reached two semi-finals in the North Staffs and District Golf League knockout competitions.

They host neighbours Leek in the Jim Cumberbatch Scratch Cup and also have home advantage against Izaak Walton in the Dofsky Cup. Izaak Walton and Malkins Bank have also reached two semis that have to be played by August 24. Jim Cumberbatch Scratch: Wolstanton v Trentham Park; Westwood v Leek. Dofsky Cup: Westwood v Izaak Walton, Newcastle v Malkins Bank. Houghton Salver: Lakeside v Gorstyhill, Malkins Bank v Izaak Walton. BROOKFIELD Golf Club, near Nantwich, are holding a charity tournament in aid of the Children's Adventure Farm Trust on Saturday, August 22. The trust provides holidays for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children. The tournament is for teams of four of any mix, and entry costs Pounds 100.
