; Judge Gives 21-Year-Old Another Chance

Summary

A YOUNG mother who failed to comply with a community sentence has been given a final warning by a judge.

Amanda Bourne breached two community orders by missing 56 appointments with the probation service. The orders were made after she was sentenced for separate offences of assault and criminal damage. The 21-year-old first appeared at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court for sentencing in March, but the case was deferred for six months to give Bourne the chance to improve her attendance. Recorder John Taylor, who sentenced Bourne yesterday, accepted that her engagement had improved. He extended her current community order by six months, but warned the defendant that any further offending would result in a prison sentence.
