Summary
AS HIS American trip continues and wife Jules wonders if he's ever going to put the kids to bed, Jamie Oliver, right, is this week in Louisiana, hunting alligators and cooking gumbo. In case you didn't know, gumbo is a stew consisting primarily of a strong stock, meat, shellfish, celery, peppers, and onion. As far as I'm aware it's never been part of the Baxter's range. Arriving just weeks after Hurricane Gustav has wreaked havoc in the area, Jamie seeks to understand why people return after such devastation and how food helped keep the party going through adversity. As I always say, it's nice to have a sandwich when you're roof 's being torn off in a Force 10.
Keen to try his hand at Louisiana cooking, Jamie gets a stall at a street party used by the African-American community as a fundraiser for local projects. It's an upbeat way to spend a day before the serious business starts.See the full content of this document
