CHRISTINE and Andrew Allen have been involved in Growing Rural Enterprise's care farm project since December. The couple, pictured above, who run The Willows Farm in Uttoxeter, saw the scheme as a natural extension to their regular school visits. Christine, aged 51, said: "We met Nick and Julie at the Staffordshire County Show last summer and said we were hosting educational visits but would like to do more, and they told us about this new group of care farmers they were starting. "They've been a great support - I wouldn't have liked to have done it without them.
"They are very supportive of farmers and understand we are a business, not a charity." The Willows, which is an organic beef farm, hosts care farm visits for people suffering from mental health issues once or twice a week and Christine says it has proved extremely rewarding as well as bringing in extra revenue.See the full content of this document
