EXTRA-long legs and line-free faces may work wonders promoting a product but according to Girlguiding UK, airbrushed images are doing little to boost the selfesteem of young girls the world over. Last month, in what could be the most influential project of its centenary, 20,000 members of the organisation launched a nationwide petition to support the compulsory labelling of airbrushed images, after a survey revealed that 50 per cent of 16 to 21-year-old girls would consider having surgery to change the way they look and 42 per cent of 11 to 16-year-olds watched what they ate.
