MADAM, - Re: Park Road School, Park Road, Burslem. I went to Park Road School between the years 1954 and 1958 and Alfie Lake was by then my form teacher. As your previous writers stated he was a character, but a true gentleman of the old school eccentric and a good teacher.

He also loved poetry and I had to learn off by heart The Charge Of The Light Brigade, by Alfred Lord Tennyson, and had to stand by his desk and recite it until I had learned it.
