Summary
THIS week gets off to a great start tonight with Steve Tilston playing a house concert at Rushton Spencer. Steve recently received a lot of national media attention when it was discovered that John Lennon had sent him a letter (which he incidentally never received) in 1970 offering him advice when he was a young up and coming singer- songwriter. Well-known throughout the folk world for some cracking songs, Steve has a great voice accompanying himself on guitar.
The evening is a sell-out although it's always worth contacting organiser Vanya Anderson to see if there are any last-minute cancellations (01260 226269). On Monday evening the New Vic Theatre in Basford has an interesting night featuring two brilliant international guitarists, Mongrain and Brozman. Canadian guitar- phenomenon Erik Mongrain first started performing as a teenager in subway stations. He soon attracted a legion of fans and appeared on the stages and festivals around North America and Europe. He has a style of playing all his own, 'lap-tapping' with the guitar flat on his knees. Accompanying him on a short tour of the UK, Bob Brozman is a guitarist like no other. A prolific recording artist, performer and producer, this non-stop traveller is a tireless researcher in world music. Call 01782 717962. Tuesday sees a singer's night at Sandbach Folk Club, which meets in the Market Tavern Call 07815 721933.See the full content of this document
