When Stoke-on-Trent city councillor Terry Follows was handed a set of photographs, he was intrigued to find out more about the people pictured. He says: "I was born in Fenton and I think the photographs were given to me by Phyllis Dean, whose mother kept a corner shop in Park Lane, Fenton.

"I've had the pictures for a few years, but I just wondered if they would be of interest to anyone. Perhaps someone can shed more light on them. I've been told some of them were taken as part of celebrations to mark the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, but the others probably relate to the crowning of the St Matthew's Church carnival queen. And they were all taken at Turner Memorial Infants School in Fenton."
