Children's Families Hit by Lack of Funds for Vital Equipment

Summary


Families have criticised the region's health bosses for failing to give enough funding to buy vital equipment for disabled youngsters.

They were responding to a report by charity Birth Defects Foundation (BDF) Newlife, which reveals how much each primary care trust (PCT) has spent on the equipment in a year. The figures are no surprise to Melanie Orpe, whose four-year-old son Kieron suffers from severe cerebral palsy, epilepsy and a rare chromosome disorder.
