Sir, - In a recent letter to The Sentinel, headlined Changes are a sign of stress, R Farr seems to make the case for large, top- heavy management structures fed by an army of directors when he refers to senior management cuts taking place at Newcastle Borough Council.
I would rather have five more street cleaners than one highly- paid manager who sits behind a desk all day. R Farr needs to remember that councils are there to serve the community. I'm glad this has been recognised by those now running the council.See the full content of this document
