A CHARITY is continuing its fund-raising drive for a play area. Children of Audley Residents' Association wants to see a play area completely overhauled on land behind Queen Street and Wereton Road. Part of the work has already been carried out.

But chairman Ann Beach now hopes to secure grants to kick-start the rest of the project. She said: "We will be looking at applying for everything we can in the New Year. "Parts of the play area are already in position, including the toddler area, which cost us Pounds 18,000 from our own money." The charity is hoping to raise a total of Pounds 50,000 to improve the facilities following the Government's decision to withdraw its funding for the project.
