I Read the article "Disabled oppose parking charges" with interest. I hold a blue disability badge and would not object to paying parking charges. What I found infuriating was the amount quoted of pounds150,000 which is supposedly required to operate barriers at two car parks in Hanley. I use the car park in Meigh Street, and on the occasions that I have used my badge, the attendant has not moved out of the office when I pressed the attention button. I had to hold my badge up and the barrier has been released from inside the office. How can they say they need pounds150,000 to staff these car parks? How many people do they employ and at what cost? I would never object to paying for any service I receive, but this huge amount is totally unrealistic for a service that is not being provided.
