MULTI-MILLION pound plans for a new bypass, which has been in the pipeline for 35 years, may be scrapped by council bosses.

The leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council has called for an urgent review of the Hanley-Bentilee link road proposals before any more public money is spent on the project. The call from Councillor Ross Irving, pictured below, comes as councillors are being asked to press ahead with a Pounds 1 million bid for the road scheme, of which Pounds 100,000 would be spent during 2010/11.
