MADAM, - I remember Longton Hall Road in 1937, only in those days it was Longton Hall Lane. My late husband and I at that time were living in Fenton with my dad and mum.
We were both cyclists. We would ride from City Road along King Street to Longton Railway Station, turn right along Foley Road and right at Longton Hall Road. There was a stream at the bottom we used to ride through. Before St Paul's Church was built there were open fields, top lodge and bottom lodge, and in Blurton Road before the council flats were built there was a riding school. As a young girl we used to walk from Fenton over Fenton Railway Bridge to Heron Cross, down to the riding school to watch them on Sunday mornings. I am now 88 years of age. Little did I know I would be living off Longton Hall Road in years to come.See the full content of this document
