STOKE City directors are building on the visits of sporting legends Pele and Muhammad Ali to promote the Britannia Stadium as a venue for lucrative events off the pitch. Now the Britannia is used to playing host to Premiership Football, bosses have created a website dedicated to raising its profile as a location for live music, comedy, conferences, corporate functions and weddings. It comes after the stadium hosted a fundraising lunch attended by legendary boxer Muhammad Ali earlier this month.

Last year, Brazilian football star Pele and human rights campaigner Archbishop Desmond Tutu were the guests of honour atthe unveiling of a statue of World Cup-winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks. The club has already signed a deal with beer firm Carlsberg to host a series of live music and comedy events, which got under way at the weekend.
