Bratt in Vow to Maintain Vale's Pounds 1m Player Fund

CHAIRMAN Bill Bratt has pledged to maintain Port Vale's "competitive" Pounds 1 million player budget after slashing last season's wage bill by more than Pounds 600,000.

This year's accounts, up until July, reveal the club lost Pounds 281,541 last season, despite reducing the manager's budget from Pounds 1.73 million to Pounds 1.12 million. Bratt said Micky Adams's budget remained at a similar level to his managerial predecessors Lee Sinnott and Dean Glover. "Personally, I think a Pounds 1 million players' budget is the minimum you need," he said.
