JASMIN Connor was looking for part-time work when she applied for the manager's job at Shelter in The Strand, Longton. That's how the 58-year-old, from Northwood, who is married to Ashley and has two grandchildren - met Ellen Mullock. Ellen, also aged 58, from Packmoor, was drafted in to show Jasmin the ropes. She has worked at the Tunstall branch of Shelter for the past 12 years and been the manager there for three years. Married to Brian, Ellen has two grandchildren.

What were your first impressions of each other? Jasmin: On my first day I was taken to see Ellen simply because she is the Queen Bee of charity shops. Her store raises the most money in Shelter's North-West division. My senior managers wanted me to be trained by the best. From the moment I walked through the door, it was if we'd known each other for years - we just had a bond. I'm sure we were twins in a previous life. Now I'm second in the division but I owe that to Ellen.
