WITH half term just around the corner, there's a host of weird and wonderful action and adventure planned for your children at some of Staffordshire's favourite attractions this October.

Brave souls. For adrenaline-fuelled frights, this year's Alton Towers 'Scarefest' from October 15 to 31 promises to be more spine- chilling than ever, with riproaring rides, blockbusting attractions, amazing live shows, and weird and wonderful costume characters - and the park will be open until 9pm (www.altontowers.com). Witches and Wizards. There will be gruesome ghouls and spooky antics at Shugborough this school holiday from Saturday, October 22, to Friday, October 28. From pumpkin carving in the walled garden to spooky themed craft activities and baking in the Farm Parlour, there'll be something for all ages to enjoy.
