Proms Saturday Matinees R3, 7.30pm Prom 25: BBC Singers/London Sinfonietta R3, 10pm A CHANCE to relive some of the glories of the summer's Promenade Concerts, including the launch of Bach Day with the complete Brandenburg Concertos in two concerts given by the English Baroque Solists under John Eliot Gardiner.
Later, Prom 25 pairs music by Igor Stravinsky with one of the composers he most admired, JS Bach. In the main work, the two composers overlap in Stravinsky's orchestral arrangement of one of Bach's masterpieces, the great Canonic Variations on Von Himmel Hoch. The concert ends with Stravinsky's Threni, an austere and deeply spiritual setting of the Biblical Lamentations of Jeremiah.See the full content of this document
